Marcie Cavanaugh is the epitome of quiet volunteerism that keeps the computer room open for all of us.   Marcie joined the Computer Club when her laptop started having problems.  With computer assistance, she began attending classes to keep up with the latest technology. She then became a Monitor; typically volunteering 20-30 hrs. per month. Monitors are encouraged to donate 2-3 hours a month to keep the rooms open for the club. You can often find Marcie opening the rooms in the early morning and passing the time studying online. In addition to the time, she spends at the Monitor’s station she posts the weekly schedule of monitors and classes on the bulletin board outside the room.

When asked how she became involved, Marcie said, “When our daughter decided to finish her college education in Pennsylvania, we decided to mov Florida.   Not wanting to return to snow territory, we rented a place in Sun City and several months later purchased a home”.

Since 2010 she has been an AARP volunteer assisting residents preparing their tax returns.  The computer skills learned from the Computer Club have been a tremendous help.

In addition to volunteering for the Computer Club, she enjoys creating greeting cards for all occasions with Printshop software and loves crocheting afghans to give away as gifts.
Please say hello to Marcie when using our facilities and thank her for a job well done and so appreciated by all our members.
